Cost: Upon acceptance to the camp the player will be charged $1200.00 to attend. This includes three days of coaching totaling 27 hours of hands on coaching, on course Ryder Cup style competition, breakfast and lunch all days and dinner the last night, camp hat, notebooks,refreshments, and other items.
What: A golf
skills training camp for the best players selected to attend from a resume
submission and review process. "The Coaches" is limited to 20 male/female players age 13-18 who are selected by a committee to
attend the 3 day camp.
Mission Statement: To share with the players information from years of competition that will help the golfer become game mature beyond their age and experience
Description: The Coaches Golf Camp is a three day training program for elite level players who want to learn to go beyond the swing mechanics and normal repetition of golf practice and understand the things that the best in the game do to get an edge over the other players. From years of competition against the best players in the world and from years of coaching the best players Coach Haas and Coach Strano will share keys to success from the mental side of the game to strategies to shot training that makes for a more balanced and well rounded player.
Player
Registration: Submission of resumes completed by July 1, 2017 with
player selection completed by July 7, 2017. Player notification of acceptance
by July 8, 2017. Those not selected will be placed in numerical order on a
replacement list should someone drop off. If there are enough players a second
camp would be run starting the day after the conclusion of the first camp if the
dates are available at the club.
Time: Three days with training starting at 8:00 and ending at 5:00 - Last day ends
with dinner at 9:00
Training: Players will be taught skill specific training and shot making. This will be a
camp designed to teach the student the game of golf, not the golf swing, with
emphasis on these items.
Players will get
training in these areas and other options selected by "The Coaches":
How to score their best and produce their best golf in competition.
Shot making (hitting all the ball flight windows), short game shots and putting,
Precompetition game assessment and pretournament preparation that includes how to make a yardage book and how to practice leading up to a tournament
Fitness for golf via TPI screens and workouts
How to mentally thrive under the pressure of competition
Importance of preshot and post shot routines
How to troubleshoot your game when it goes off the rails during a round and get going again and how to overcome a bad stretch in a round or a bad start to a round
How to put pressure on yourself in practice to stretch your game to the next level
The way to practice on the golf course
Event Team
Competition: Players will be divided into two teams for a Ryder Cup
style afternoon competition captained by Jerry Haas and Rob Strano. If the cup ends in a tie the captains will
have put a players name in the envelope and those two players will compete on
the 5th hole at St. Clair until there is a winner. Winning team will
be awarded the cup at the closing dinner.
