I’ve been lucky enough to have a lot of great golf experiences, but the golf lessons I had recently rank near the very top. It was everything a lesson should be: fun, educational, and inspirational. I left that lesson more excited about the game because I can see a clear path to playing better. The person responsible for this lesson was Burdette Hawkins.

I began playing Golf about 2 years ago and absolutely love the sport. I’ve gotten hooked on it and constantly trying to improve my game. At the start of my lessons, Burdette discussed his training plan and talked at length to understand what my goals are and how we can collaborate to help me reach my goals. Burdette instructed me to grip the club, address the ball, and make a swing. Once I took about 10 swings the lessons truly began. Burdette provided immediate feedback on my tendencies and made some adjustments to help me strike the ball better. One thing that I’d love to point out, is that throughout my lesson, he stressed the importance of staying mentally prepared. This is an area where Burdette shines. I really like the approach that he takes by keeping things fun, simple, and effective. He also took multiple photos and videos of my swings and thoroughly explained the ins and outs of why my ball would take flight the way it does. After a few swings, Burdette and I would go through the videos frame by frame breaking down what was good and what needed improvement. At this point, I, like most golfers, was unhappy with my swing and was very eager to fix it.

Burdette showed me the first change that we were going to make, and we began working on drills to start ingraining that. As my lesson ended, Burd, captured another video to show me the immediate improvement and discussed what the next step would be. The best part of this lesson – what would have made it worth twice the price – was the fact that I left so excited about playing better golf. For the first time in my short time with golf, I saw meaningful improvements in my swing and on course management. I know felt like I have a plan and the tools to succeed. I used to feel that shooting lower scores was a dream and unattainable. After executing the training plan that Burd and I, put together I saw instant gains during my next round of golf. My scores dropped from the High 90s to the Mid 80s, with much thanks to Burdette. I cannot express how grateful I am for having an opportunity to work with Burdette Hawkins.

Below is a list of Golf Training Services that Burdette offers:

• Long Game (Driver, Fairway Woods, Hybrid)

• Irons • Short Game (Pitch, Chip)

• Putting

• On Course Management If you’re looking to make a real investment in improving your game, I cannot recommend Burdette Hawkins highly enough.

Christie Emery

Christie first learned how to play golf at a summer camp under the instruction
of Chuck Scoggins. She continued to learn about the game over the years and
played NCAA DII golf at Young Harris College. She worked at Game Like Training
Golf Academy in Acworth, Georgia after graduation. Christie now works full-time
with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) Golf and enjoys helping others
develop their golf skills along with their true confidence and passion for
the game. Christie grew up in Dacula, Georgia. She attended Young Harris
College where she met her husband, Ryan. Christie, Ryan, and their baby girl,
Grace now resides in Hoschton with their two pups, Mac and Millie. She
enjoys time with family and carne asada tacos.

Coach Christie taught me to focus on my mental game and it helped me finish my rounds on a strong note!

Coach Christie helped my swing by reminding me to stay smooth with it and reminding me of my bad habits to stay away from.

Coach Christie helped me understand golf is just a game and to remember what’s more important!

Coach Christie is a great golf coach because she understands the fundamentals of a golf swing and can pinpoint major issues when something is off that the golfer cannot see. She’s patient, supportive, focused, and more importantly passionate about the golf game!

~Rayla Schultz

Coach Christie changed and impacted my life more than anyone in this world. She helped me focus on myself mentally because that is something that I  have struggled with my whole life. She helped me by being there for me and being a helping hand when I needed it. Overall she helped me be positive and happy on the golf course. In addition to that she really helped me with my golf game, teaching me new techniques and new drills to better me in the game. She helped me with shots that I struggled with such as chipping and putting and she really helped me become more confident in and out of the game. She taught me things like OSVEA which is observation, selection, visualization, execution, and acceptance. She helped me more than anyone could understand. Overall Coach Christie helped me grow as a golfer and most of all as a person. Honestly, there is no better coach I could have ever asked for.

~Rylee Stovall

Coach Christie taught me to focus on taking the game one shot at a time and it helped me by forcing me to slow down and play the game at my own pace. She helped me realize that my game would be thrown off if I started to play too fast or began overthinking every shot, so by teaching me to find my own rhythm, my game quickly began to improve.

Coach Christie helped my swing by explaining concepts in a way that I would understand better. My primary sport is basketball, and when I couldn’t understand a concept or motion she wanted me to fix in my swing, she would rephrase it in basketball terminology so I would understand. I then knew what she wanted me to fix and through constant practice, my swing and overall shot consistency improved drastically.

Coach Christie helped me understand the importance of enjoying the game and learning that mistakes are bound to happen in order to grow as a player. I am what some people consider a perfectionist when it comes to anything I do and when I struggle to do well at something it can become frustrating, but Coach Christie helped me realize that if it was supposed to be easy then everyone would do it. I learned that giving yourself a break or stepping back for a moment can help both your mental health and overall game. She helped me understand that no person is absolutely perfect in anything, so I shouldn’t be so hard on myself.

Coach Christie is a great golf coach because she is a great person. She knows how to talk to people and connect with them on a personal level. It feels as though she is trying to help you more so as a friend rather than a Coach and she truly cares about seeing you improve. I love the time I spent with Coach Christie and I know anyone else who is blessed to have had or will have her as a coach can say the same.

~Rachel Hink

Coach Christie taught me to focus on breathing control and this helped me when I am playing in tournaments when I’m anxious/nervous.

Coach Christie helped my swing by not rushing through my take back.

Coach Christie helped me understand the rules of the game more like water shots and penalties

Coach Christie is a great golf coach because she is patient and understanding.
